Sheep & Wool Ambassador

The first Maryland Lamb & Wool Queen Competition was held in 1972, when Kendra Hall from Frederick County, Maryland was crowned. This set the stage for 47 years of young ladies proudly representing the Maryland sheep industry. In 2020, the competition was re-named as Maryland Sheep & Wool Ambassador and opened to all genders.

The main duty of the Maryland Sheep & Wool Ambassador is to educate the public about not only our growing sheep industry here in Maryland, but also nationally. They also hand out ribbons at various shows and show their support for our industry by mentoring younger shepherds.

2025 Maryland Sheep & Wool Ambassador

Jaime-lyn Widman

My name is Jaime-lyn Widman.  I am fifteen years old and I live in the Hickory area of Harford County.

I am proud to be the 2025 Maryland Sheep and Wool Ambassador.

My family operates a farm with a small herd of beef cattle, poultry, and meat goats.  In 2020 I added sheep!

My main interest is heritage breed sheep along with commercial club lambs.  I have a flock of Hog Island sheep, Tunis, Natural Colored and am adding Dorsets, along with my commercial flock.

When I am not in the barn, I enjoy creating art through fiber, crafting, drawing, painting and sewing.

I am very excited to visit different areas of the state this year attending fairs and sheep shows as the Sheep and Wool Ambassador.

Visit the Maryland Sheep & Wool Festival website for information on entering the next contest.
